Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before submitting your application.
1. Overview
These terms and conditions form the basis of a legally binding contract between the Parents of the child and Vygotsky School of Play ("the school") and are intended to promote the education and welfare of the child at all times.
2. Enrolment
Upon agreement to these terms and conditions, and payment of the registration fee, the child shall be enrolled at the school for an indefinite period of time until terminated with due notice.
3. School Terms
The school year consists of 4 (four) terms. The dates on which the terms commence and end are at the school's discretion and will correspond with South Africa school terms, communicated to parents at the start of each term.
4. School Operating Hours
School Hours: 7h00 β 18h00, Mondays to Fridays. Children are to be dropped off before 8h30. Full day children must be collected by no later than 18h00.
5. Public Holidays
The school is closed on all South African public holidays. Parents may absent their children on religious holidays upon prior notification, but shall remain liable for fees on absent days.
6. Collection of the Child
The child must be collected by 18h00 daily. Only parents or adults with written authorisation signed by both parents may collect the child. Proper identification must be provided. A late collection fee of R60 per 30 minutes beyond 18h00 will apply.
7. Parents' Right to Custody
Should parental custody become limited in any manner (divorce or otherwise), the parent retaining legal custody must supply the school with a certified copy of any custody and visitation court order.
8. Clothing
Children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor play. The school is not responsible for damage to clothing. For safety, children should not wear earrings, bangles, necklaces, teething beads, or bead jewellery.
9. Birthdays
Please coordinate with the Manager before sending cake or snacks. Ensure all items are safe and allergy-aware.
10. Assessment Reports
Parents receive evaluation reports in July and December. Behavioural or developmental challenges will be discussed proactively.
11. Serious Behavioural Issues
The school reserves the right by written notice to request parents to withdraw the child if the child is continually disruptive or displaying inappropriate behaviour, following the school's intervention process.
12. Correspondence / Communication
Please call 078 813 1792 or 076 666 5081 for non-urgent communication. Staff may not be contacted on personal numbers. Management may not be contacted outside operating hours. All concerns must be addressed by appointment during operating hours.
13. Medical Matters
We are not permitted to dispense any medicine. Children who need medication must remain at home. Children with infectious conditions may only return with a doctor's note. Parents authorise the school to facilitate emergency medical treatment by an appropriately qualified professional as necessary.
14. Allergies
All allergies must be declared on the registration form and kept up to date in writing. Emergency allergy medication must be provided by parents with written administration instructions.
15. Payment of Fees
Fees are payable monthly in advance by the 1st of each month via EFT or cash. No cheques or debit card payments accepted.
16. Late Payment of Fees
If fees are not paid by the 3rd working day of each month, R300 will be added to the next month's account. You will be liable for all debt collection costs incurred.
17. Suspension for Non-Payment
Failure to pay or contact the school will result in suspension from the 7th of the month until fees are paid in full. Persistent late payment may compromise your child's position.
18. Absenteeism
Parents must notify the school before any absence. Fees are payable regardless of absenteeism for any reason.
19. Indemnification
The school will make every effort to ensure the child's safety. Parents undertake not to hold the school liable for any injury or damage, except in cases of gross negligence by the school or its employees.
20. Toys Policy
No toys from home are permitted. The school will not be liable for the loss or damage of items brought from home; such items will be confiscated.
21. Consent for Use of Photographs
Where photo consent is given on this form, the school may use photographs of the child for social media, marketing materials, or publications.
22. Termination
Either party may terminate this agreement by 3 months' (one term's) written notice. Parents remain liable for all fees during the notice period.
23. Refund Policy
The school is not liable for fee refunds in cases of forced closure due to natural disasters, civil unrest, war, or health pandemics.
24. Reservation of Right to Make Rules
The school reserves the right to make, change, or amend its rules within reason, and the parent agrees to abide by any such rules.
